ARTIST NOTES: “Salt of the Earth”
The warmth of the low western sun on the left of my salt crusted face, the emotional choke in my neck and well in my eyes as we line up for the only contest that counted that season. We all have memories of that wave, the wave that took a few to glory but shattered the dreams of most. Thirty-five diverse recollections of the same six minutes in time almost thirty years ago. Men and women of the Fleurieu sharpening their skill and fitness to serve the community. Keeping our beautiful beaches safe for all that visit. My brothers, my sisters, my family for life, these are my people, salt of the earth people. Summer of 1992, Southport Beach South Australia

ARTIST BIO

Johnny picked up a paintbrush for the first time in 2015. Self taught and heavily influenced by both his grandfathers, his father and very creative siblings. He paints with oil, wet on wet and knows no rules hence breaks none. Sketching his next study, applying the final highlights on his latest work or throwing a set of bowls on the potters wheel he is doing what he loves. His work is becoming increasingly popular with its ability to bring a pop of colour and emotion to a space. www.studio5019.com.au
