ARTIST BIO

THE ARTIST

Bridie O’Brien is a Sydney visual artist and musician. She was raised on a working farm in country NSW, with wide open spaces, motorbikes, animals and endless adventures.

Bridie’s Story:

I remember my childhood experiences as vivid, creative, tactile and due to my brazen curiosity, sometimes boldly engaging.

I graduated from the Australian Institute of Music in 1998 with big dreams of a career in music and so I set sail into the night. I had many adventures and met some incredible personalities.

In 2003-2005 I completed a diploma of Entertainment Design at Enmore Design Centre majoring in Illustration. I was on the enigmatic path to being a professional artist in 2006 after being accepted into the National Art School, however I veered out of my studies to pursue my musical endeavours, after all playing guitar was my first true love.

For the next 15 years I travelled the world, sometimes to perform, sometimes to enjoy the view.

During this time I 'stunt doubled' a professional career in the corporate live events industry. It's here I met some exceptionally clever people and gathered invaluable technical skills and business smarts.

My musical escapades led me to recording three studio albums, original songs appearing on film and TV, spending six weeks on a remote Caribbean island, and driving solo around NZ and Ireland songwriting. My head was ambitious but it was towing a dreamy heart in a fast paced world.

In 2019 I found myself touring around Australia playing guitar with reformed 80's new wave outfit Do Re Mi, supporting Icehouse, The Sunnyboys and The Church. These were some of the best days of my life. Then Covid hit.

Fast forward to 2020; I found myself on the outside of normal occupation and routine due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It decimated the events industry and I was one of the many causalities.

Since July 2020 I have reacquainted myself with the great art masters of Impressionism, and modern Russian virtuosos. I’ve re-connected with life-long influences like Monet and Van Gogh, and I’ve dedicated my entire self to further exploring years of manifest and imagination.

Painting has inspired change and changed my perspective on what is possible.

Beobe:

I have created a unique brand around my art called Beobe.

The idea of Beobe came to me in a dream. And so, remembering that only the impossible is worth the effort, I have set out to deliver something that brings me a great deal of joy.

Beobe delivers Australian fine art, a luxurious handmade product range and 'museum quality' fine art prints. You can explore the concept at www.beobe.com.au
